For those of you not familiar with this new TV show from MTV, The City is a spin off from the popular MTV show The Hills. This show is supposed to be a reality TV show that follows Whitney Port who co-starred on The Hills with Lauren Conrad to New York to work for fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg. The show debuted on MTV on December 28, 2008.
The City has a small cast of people like The Hills, The City stars, Whitney Port and Jay Lyon (he is Whitney’s boyfriend). Also in the cast are friends of Whitney as well as girl friends and boyfriends of these friends. The gist of the storyline of The City is that Whitney Port packs up everything she owns and moves to New York City from Los Angeles and gets a job as a Public Relations Director at the age of 23 at a worldwide design house Diane von Furstenberg. She moves there with her best friend and a man she is in love with.
The show has only a hand full of episodes under their belt but so far the show is shaping up like this. In Episode One, we see Whitney start her new job at Diane von Furstenberg. She happens to start work near Fashion Week and she has to rush around and find hairspray and hair pins for all of the models. Then after the hectic day she has time for dinner with her boyfriend and a dinner party.
In Episode Two, a guy names Alex whom Whitney had a crush on comes back into Whitney’s life and brings what else? Drama. The former crush and the current boyfriend get into a fight and Whitney is left conflicted. In Episode Three, we see Erin (a friend of Whitney’s) and her new boyfriend come to visit Whitney and Whitney who was staying with Erin decides to find her own apartment.
Episode Four has Duncan, Erin’s boyfriend deciding if he wants to move to NYC. Whitney and Jay are at a crossroads so she goes to lunch with a co-worker. After Jay finds out and he realizes what she means to him and he is ready to take their relationship to the next level. Episode 5, find the guys going out for a guys night and soon more drama ensues with rumors of Adam kissing another girl who happens to be one of his girlfriends good friends.
