I am sure you are familiar with the infamous SAW saga that has unfolded over the past 5 years. In only a half a decade, there have been 5 Saw films released, and now this year we are getting a sixth one! The Saw films have grossed more than any other Horror series in the past twenty years, so it is quite a saga to say the least. However, the question on most viewers mind is; “Will it live up to the other five”?
Well, to answer this question, we are going to do a quick run down of the plot synopsis, and hopefully get a peak into what this film has in store for us:
The official plot synopsis released by Lionsgate reads: "Special Agent Strahm is dead, and Detective Hoffman has emerged as the unchallenged successor to Jigsaw's legacy. However, when the FBI draws closer to Hoffman, he is forced to set a game into motion, and Jigsaw's grand scheme is finally understood." Saw VI was filmed in Toronto under the direction of Kevin Greutert from a screenplay by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (the writing team behind Saw IV and V). The film is produced by Twisted Pictures' Mark Burg and Oren Koules. The cast includes Tobin Bell as Jigsaw, Mark Rolston (Saw V, The Departed) as FBI Agent Erickson, Costas Mandylor as Hoffman, Betsy Russel as Jill, Peter Outerbridge (ReGenesis, Land of the Dead) as William, and Shawnee Smith as Amanda.
Well, from this we can only conclude that the movie will be very similar to the other movies in the SAW saga, and that they may even leave room for YET ANOTHER sequel! I don't know about you guys, but to me this is shaping up to be the next Halloween: Mike Meyers! The big question is though, how long can the creators and writers of the film continue to come up with plot twists and turns before it becomes the “Same ol' Same ol'” routine... The answer to this question really lies within the person who is watching the film. If they continue to produce movies that are high in gore, and in high in suspense, then my prediction is; the SAW series may last another 10 years or more!
